Achievements

Billy has represented Scotland in the CLA Game Fair International Gundog Team event nine times with several different dogs.

He is an 'A' panel retriever judge and has judged the British Retriever Championships and the European International and also travels to many countries abroad to conduct training and judging seminars.

Biography

Billy is a full time professional gundog trainer who has been training dogs for 30 years and has had great success throughout his career in field trialing.

He won his first trophy aged 14 years going on to make up 8 Field Trial Champions to date and has qualified for the British Retriever Championship for the last 19 consecutive years, qualifying two dogs for six of those years.

Billy has twice won the British Retriever Championship, firstly in 1996 (aged 28) with the FTCh Linksview Jet and again in 2000 with FTCh Bracken of Berrybrae. He also gained second place in 1995 with Jet, a diploma of merit and Top Scottish Dog in 2005 with FTCh Broadlaw Jake and fourth place in 2008 with FTCh Hillus Clyde.

Also a keen clay shot Billy represented Scotland in the Sporting International Championship at clay pigeon shooting.

Broadlaw Gundogs is a professional kennel establishment run by Billy and his wife Anne. The kennels are situated in a beautiful rural setting within the Lowther Hills in South Lanarkshire.
