Billy is voted the Gundog Trainer of the Year 2009

BILLY Steel Junior, of Broadlaw Gundogs, Lowther Hills, South Lanarkshire, received this year’s Keith Erlandson Memorial Trophy for Gundog Trainer of the Year from the D uke of Rutland at this year’s CLA Game with Tracey Allen, the general manager of The Countryman’s Weekly, who sponsored this prestigious award.  It was a real fitting occasion for Billy to receive this award, as he was the Captain of the Scotland Gundog Team - sponsored by CSJ.

I am sure noone really needs reminding of Billy's impressive cv (!)  but he is a professional gundog trainer who is an 'A' Panel Retriever Judge and who judged the IGL Retriever Championships in 2002.  He has made up seven Field Trial Champions – ‘FTCH Linksview Jet;’ ‘FTCH Kenue Cedar;’ ‘FTCH Bracken of Berrybrae;’ ‘FTCH Broadlaw Eva;’ ‘FTCH Broadlaw Damsen;’ ‘FTCH Broadlaw Jake’ and ‘FTCH Hillus Clyde.’ He bred four Field Trial Champions and won the IGL Retriever Championship in 1996 with ‘FTCH Linksview Jet’ and again in 2000 with ‘FTCH Bracken of Berrybrae.’

Our many congratulations go out to him.
