The day dawned bright and sunny and the views over the Perthshire hills were stunning. There was an excellent entry of 94 dogs in total - the day starting with Puppy, then Novice and, after lunch, the Open.
Each stand was busy with handlers and spectators and most dogs made a good account of themselves. The tests made full use of the varied ground in shaded woodland, a small loch and on the undulating grouse moor in deep heather.
During lunch a dummy throwing competition was held with the contestant having three throws to land a dummy in a bucket. This proved a popular event and after a "run off" the eventual winner was Mr R Meldrum. There was also a raffle with a vast array of prizes - testiment to how generous everyone was.
This CSJ event was held in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity and the Strathmore Club are delighted to say that £775 was raised on the day. This figure comprised of entry monies, a tremendous raffle, an auction of a tapestry of a fox and of course the dummy throwing.
Many thanks must go to the Judges who were B Ferguson, JOA Douglas, L Ryan and T Leitch who were all kept busy all day. Thanks also to all the helpers and to all who donated prizes for the raffle, and special thanks to Willie Spacey and Kathy Bouch who provided the lunches for all officials and what an excellent spread it was!
This event could not have taken place without the tremendous organisational ability of committee members Alison Sorley, Alan Downie and assistants Tasha Kibble and Gill Drysdale, the generosity of Landowners, sponsors, CSJ Dog, competitors and spectators.
Even the weather was generous (!) - holding off until the final moments when the raffle was being drawn and photographs taken.
